More Excursion Pictures

 Here are a few more snap shots from our excursion yesterday! As you can see, we had to deal with a little rain... but we are used to that by now!

 We also had to wait in line a little... but we are used to that by now, too!

The Spanish speakers become friends easily, that's no surprise to us by now :)

And last, but not least: Mecca and Morten showing us the world's smallest bridge between two nations. Wonderful!

New Search Feature

To make it easier for you guys to find the entry you were looking for when showing the blog to grandma, uncle Paul or to your co-worker when time has passed and the entry with the gorgeous picture of YOUR child has been lost from the front page of the blog, we have added yet another feature to the blog:

If you scroll down the page a bit, you will find a search field where you may search for words, like "Lake Fake" or "pony song", and magical Google will find the entries for you. Below the search field, there is a bunch of topics gathered together in a little crowd. This is where you easily find all the entries about National Nights, or Excursions, or Food, and so on. We hope this will help you to find the picture you wanted to show grandma and auntie! :)

The Ladies at Sunny Hill

We have a wonderful leaders' group here at Sunny Hill, and of the delegation leaders, 9 are female! Here is a picture of six of the Sunny Hill ladies, from the left: Sam (Italy), Sarah (Canada), Cris (Brazil), Mony (Mexico), Mecca (USA), and Alejandra (Spain). We love you guys!

Germans and Haribo

We are not sure why, but it seems that Germans have this unexplainable love for gummy bears. They seem to gravitate towards the Haribo-rack wherever we go! German parents, can you explain this, please? :)

Some More Fun @ Lake Fake

 Morten from the Staff is dangerous in the water! He splashes around and will stop at nothing to get water into everyone's nose. Luckily the kids will splash water right back at him. Waterfight!

 Some of you may have googled "Skarnes" and found that our camp site is in the middle of green fields and forests, and that our neighbors are small houses and big farms. And it's true!

 It must be quite an experience to come here from Mexico City or Sao Paulo! You can walk long distances and not meet a single soul here in Skarnes. We like it that way!

 It gives us all the time in the world to focus on camp and the people at camp - we have no disturbances around us!

Becoming Famous at Sunny Hill #2

The other day, one of the local news papers stopped by to capture our camp on film! They created a short video which has been published online, and we hope you will be able to watch it. Please visit the link below, and let us know whether or not it works!

Excursion to Morokulien

 Today has been all about crossing borders, as the whole camp traveled to the Norwegian-Swedish border to try out some jewlery-making!

 Vivi Ann Huuse, a local artist, taught all the kids how to make jewlery from glass!

It was a little difficult, very interesting and a lot of fun!

The kids got to choose which color they wanted, blue, turquoise, orange, green, pink, purple.

It was hot around the fire, and bright too!

We got home made fish burgers and strawberry lemonade for lunch, yum!

We also got to cross the world's smallest bridge between two nations! Norway to the left, Sweden to the right.

All in all, we pretty much had a fantabulous day together!

Excursion Day

 Right at this moment, the entire camp is having our first excursion day! We are on our way to the boarder with Sweden, to do some fun stuff which we will blog more about later. Now is the time for a photo-o-rama from the bus ride!

 Agathe from France is wearing a sweater stating the obvious: that she has a hot Mexican friend! We all do, after meeting the Mexican delegation at Sunny Hill! Spicy group! :p

These two come from Jordan and the US, and they are having a blast by the looks of it!

Alejandra from Spain and (Sha)Mecca from the US are very excited about this trip!

 It is very fashionable to be wearing CISV-branded clothing while at camp. These two are the leader from France and the half Swedish JC from Spain! Yeah, it confused us in the beginning too! :)

German Käsespätzle

Yesterday, Germany had their National Night with Sweden, and the German delegation prepared a full lunch meal for everyone at camp! They made a delicious dish called Käsespätzle (we think this is how it is spelled), and here are a few snap shots from the preparations:

The dish consists of noodles, onion and cheese (and perhaps some secret ingredients).
