Summer at SunnyHill

The summer has finally come to sunny hill, with hot weather and sunny evenings. Chances are it wont last for long, but we're not worried; if the bad weather comes we will be singing in the rain!

Right now the kids are asleep, but it is still light outside. Good night from all of us to all of you!

USA's National Night

Yesterday, on July 4th, the American delegation had their National Night - the first ever National Night at Sunny Hill! They treated us to some delicious s'mores, which we cooked over the bbq outside, and they showed us some real Hawaiian hula-hula! Everyone got to learn the moves, and we had a lot of fun! Thank you so much for a wonderful evening!

Here are some short clips from the event. Enjoy!

Lullabies

Every night before bed time here at Sunny Hill, we all gather in the Lullabies Room to tune out and have a little sing-along. Our Lullabies Room is situated in the girls' dorms, and when we are all together, we can barely fit in there - so it's time to get cozy! We sing songs about peace, love, friendship and a yellow submarine, and by the end of the session, we sing good night to each delegation/JC in their language:

It's time to say good night,
the stars are shining bright!
Tomorrow we'll meet our friends again,
so let's say good night 'till then.

There goes our friends from Norway,
we hope that they'll sleep well!
We all say: god natt! to them,
and tomorrow we'll meet again!

The World is Watching

While the kids, leaders, JC's and Staff of the Sunny Hill River Village are building friendships across the boarders, our blog is being read by the participants' families and friends from all over the world. We are happy to see that so many of you are taking part in our international experience, and we are looking forward to hearing from you in the "comments"-box below each entry! :)

Becoming Famous at Sunny Hill

Yesterday we had a visit from a journalist, and this morning we woke up to find that an article about our camp had been published online, on the website of the local newspaper Odalsnytt! We are now local celebrities, and we hope that the locals here in Sør-Odal will come to visit us on our Open Day after reading about us in the newspaper!

You may read the article here (in Norwegian only). Below are a few of the shots which were published along with the article (copyright: Odalsnytt):
