Our half time entertainment went down well, and we thought you'd might like to see what we did! Here are a few snap shots of us all out on the field, and below are three video clips from the show. Check out our dance moves!
Here are a few more clips from Open Day! It takes a while for us to upload everything, but we promise that all the performances by the delegations including the JCs will be uploaded to the blog in due time. Today we have Jordan, Mexico and Norway!
The Jordanians performed a beautiful dance, we really loved it!
The Mexicans also performed a wonderful dance, but they wanted their costumes to be a surprise for their national night, so they didn't wear them on stage. We can't wait to see them!
Norway performed a play, The Three Billy Goat Gruff, which they also performed on their national night. We were really impressed with their efforts, way to go, Norway!
Once again our camp has made it to the news of one of the local news papers, Odalsnytt! The journalist got some of our names wrong, but we don't mind as long as we get publicity! We want to become famous! :) You can read the article here, it's in Norwegian but we are sure Google will help you.
All the Open Day performances have been captured on video, and we will upload them onto the blog as soon as we can!
Here is the Canadian delegation, singing Canada's Really Big (see below for the lyrics):
When I look around me, I can't believe what I see It seems as if this country Has lost it's will to live The economy is lousy, We barely have an army But we can still stand proudly 'Cause Canada's really big
We're the second largest country On this planet Earth And if Russia Keeps on shrinking Then soon we'll be first (as long as we keep Quebec)
The USA has tanks And Switzerland has banks They can keep them, thanks They just don't amount 'Cause when you get down to it You find out what the truth is It isn't what you do with it It's the size that counts!
Most people Will tell you That France is pretty large But you can put Fourteen Frances Into this land of ours (it'd take a lotta work, it's take a whole lotta work)
We're larger than Malaysia Almost as big as Asia We're bigger than Australia And it's a continent So big we seldom bother To go see one another But we often go to other Countries for vacation
Our mountains Are very pointy Our prairies are not The rest is Kinda bumpy But, man, do we have a lot (we gotta lot of land, we gotta whole lot of land)
So stand up and be proud And sing out very loud We stand out from the crowd 'cause Canada's really big!
The Canadian delegation served pancakes for lunch on their National Night, and it was delicious! They had also made a video which they showed in the media room, and they performed a really funny song, Canada's Really Big by the Arrogant Worms. After the performance, there was a quiz where those who had paid attention to the song and the video won prices for each question they managed to answer. The Canadians had "commercial breaks" between the questions, where they showed us some traditional dancing, some hockey playing and some lumbering. They were really generous with their candy, and we had a lot of fun answering all the questions!
Here's a clip from one of the commercial breaks! (The song will be posted later with all the Open Day videos!)
The Italians dressed up as CISV-chefs on their National Night, and served delicious bruschetta for lunch! Click on the link of the picture below for a recipe we've found online:
