How to use a cheese slicer

We eat a lot of bread in Norway, and our international campers have to deal with sandwich making several times a day. Here are a couple of shots from earlier, where we had a little demonstration to show the delegates how to operate the mysterious tool (and Norwegian invention): the cheese slicer!

The cheese slicer is a Norwegian invention!

  1. Hello everybody,
we just spent our holidays in the Netherlands. Yesterday we visited a typical dutch farm where cheese is made near Gouda. The farmers woman showed the visitors how to slice the cheese with a cheese slicer. She told us that you can buy these slicers from China or Taiwan, but the very best slicers are from... NORWAY! (And you could buy norwegian cheese slicer at this durch farm)
So please ask our daughter if she has some money left to buy one of the famous norwegian cheese slicers. We have already bought the cheese :-)
We are enjoying your blog every day. Thank for your wonderful texts and pictures!

    Best wishes to you!

  2. Hi Detlef and Katja, thank you for sharing this! Us Norwegians are very proud of our cheese slicers, and it is nice to hear that they are being recognized internationally as the awesome tools they are :p Enjoy the cheese!

  3. There are a lot of fancy cheese slicing gadgets out there, but sometimes its good to get back to the basics. The hand-held chome-plated cheese slicer is a must for any cheese lover. It's compact and relatively lightweight, easy to use and adjustable.
